About Ancoats and staying safe

Ancoats was once the world's first industrial suburb, its vast cotton mills lining the Rochdale Canal. Today those mills hold apartments, bakeries and some of the city's most acclaimed restaurants, gathered around Cutting Room Square and the restored St Peter's Church. New Islington marina and its floating gardens sit just to the east, making this one of the calmest neighbourhoods in the city centre. The towpaths are beautiful but can be dark and isolated after sunset, so use the lit streets of Blossom Street and Great Ancoats Street at night. Many buildings use fob entry and concierge desks; never follow someone through a secure door or hand over keys or codes. LUX lists only independent advertisers who have completed identity and age verification and re-verify every 90 days, and nothing goes live without moderator approval. We do not provide messaging, reviews or bookings, and we never charge visitors. If you notice anything that suggests someone is being controlled, moved between cities or advertised by a third party, report it to LUX and consider calling the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700.
